Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT sometimes called tapping, is a self-healing technique based on acupressure. Created by Gary Craig and effectively given to the world, EFT has a large following of both practitioners and users. The question arises, does EFT work?
To answer the question of whether or not EFT or tapping works would require quite a bit of study. Proponents of the emotional freedom technique say it works on anything. That anything being emotional issues, fears, phobias, depression, headaches, body pain, etc. Truly nearly everything.
If you haven’t tried EFT or tapping yourself, then be sure to go to YouTube or some other online video sharing platform, many people have uploaded basic tutorials on how to use EFT. Whether or not tapping works seems to be a matter of preference. Many people do find relief quickly with the technique. In fact, in Canada, EFT is considered the go-to treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD for returning soldiers.
Working on specific acupressure points of the body, EFT seems to reset nerve signals to the brain, though this has not been scientifically proven. My own experience with the emotional freedom technique began ten years ago when I learned it from Gary Craig’s book. I used the method to overcome many limiting beliefs I had about myself. Being in sales at the time, I used EFT to eliminate my fear of cold calling and boost my confidence.
From my personal experience, EFT works well. Though not as fast as neuro-linguistic programming or NLP techniques, emotional freedom technique is extremely easy to teach a client who is having intense psychological issues. From my client’s testimony, tapping works exceptionally well. I’ve had clients who even report alleviating migraine headaches within minutes that used to lay them up for days at a time.
In conclusion, the emotional freedom technique may not be scientifically proven, but from the effects it has had on people, I say give it a try. The method is simple, fast, easy to learn, and is effective on some level for quite a few people. It may very well work for you.
